Medical professionals in Stockton know the drill. Every two years, your Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credentials expire. You need to renew, but finding a class that fits a chaotic shift schedule is a nightmare. You often sacrifice a rare day off to sit in a classroom for hours, reviewing material you already know by heart.
There is a better way. It’s called Self-Guided Learning™, and it’s available right now at the Safety Training Seminars office at 5250 Claremont Ave Suite 212 in Stockton.
This isn’t just another online class. It is a precise, technology-driven approach authorized by the American Heart Association® that respects your time and intelligence. Let’s break down how this works and why it’s changing the way healthcare providers maintain their credentials.
Self-Guided Learning™ is a specific educational modality designed for professionals who need flexibility without compromising quality. It differs significantly from traditional methods you might be used to.
In a traditional classroom setting, you are locked into a fixed schedule. You move at the pace of the slowest learner in the room.
In a blended learning model, you do some work online, but you still have to schedule an appointment with an instructor for your skills check. This still ties you to someone else’s calendar.
Self-Guided Learning removes the instructor’s schedule from the equation entirely. You complete the cognitive portion online, and then you complete your hands-on skills session independently at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. There is no instructor watching you. There is no class to wait for. You are in control from start to finish.
The first step of your Self-Guided Learning journey happens wherever you want it to. You can start on your laptop at home, continue on a tablet in the breakroom, or finish on your desktop at the office.
The coursework uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This isn’t a standard “click-next” slide deck. The technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence levels as you progress.
If you are an experienced ICU nurse who knows your ACLS algorithms cold, the system recognizes that. It will move you quickly through the material you have mastered. If you struggle with a specific PALS pharmacology concept, the system slows down. It provides targeted remediation and interactive patient care scenarios until you demonstrate competence.
This approach creates a personalized learning pathway. You stop wasting time on what you already know and focus energy where you actually need it. Once you complete the online activity, you are ready for the hands-on component.
This is where the real innovation happens. Instead of scheduling a time to meet a human instructor, you head to the Safety Training Seminars office on Claremont Ave.
There, you will find a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. This is a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system connected to a computer interface. It provides real-time, objective performance feedback on your psychomotor skills.
The station measures everything:
Because the feedback is immediate and objective, there is no subjectivity. You don’t have to worry if an instructor is “easy” or “hard.” You simply perform the skills according to American Heart Association guidelines. If you miss a step or your compressions are too shallow, the station tells you immediately. You can correct your technique in real-time and repeat the practice as often as needed to achieve a passing score.
The skills session is completely self-guided. You are the only one in the room assessing your performance, backed by precise data from the station.
The specific course format you will look for is called HeartCode® Complete. This package includes both the adaptive online portion and the self-guided skills session.
You can register for:
Once you successfully complete the skills session at the CPR Verification Station learning center, the system processes your results. You receive your official American Heart Association Course Completion eCard immediately.
Important Note on Terminology: You might hear people ask for “BLS certification.” While this is common shorthand, the accurate term is a Course Completion eCard. The American Heart Association issues eCards verifying you have successfully completed the training; they do not issue “certifications” or “licenses.” The HeartCode Complete eCard is the exact same valid credential you would receive from sitting in a 4-hour classroom session.
The Safety Training Seminars office at 5250 Claremont Ave Suite 212 offers a prime location for Stockton-based medical professionals.
Here is why this location and method win over traditional classes:
Your schedule is unpredictable. Shifts run late. Emergencies happen. With Self-Guided Learning courses, you don’t lose your money if you miss a start time because there is no start time. The CPR Verification Station doesn’t care if you arrive at 9:00 AM or 2:00 PM. You fit the training into your life, not the other way around.
True Adaptive learning creates a highly efficient cognitive experience. The CPR Verification Station ensures your skills check is focused purely on competence. Most learners find they spend significantly less total time training compared to a classroom setting, while actually retaining more information because the learning is personalized.
Performance anxiety is real, even for seasoned pros. Demonstrating CPR skills in front of a class or a critical instructor can be stressful. The self-guided nature of the CPR Verification Station removes that social pressure. It’s just you and the equipment, focusing on perfecting your technique.
There is no waiting for an instructor to go home, process paperwork, and email you a card days later. The system is integrated. You pass the skills, you get your eCard. You can submit it to your employer instantly.
Ready to renew your credentials on your own terms? The process is simple:
Healthcare is evolving, and your training should too. Stop arranging your life around rigid class schedules. Embrace the flexibility of Self-Guided Learning and get back to doing what you do best: saving lives.

Booked a ACLS Renewal “course” online. The location is great - however there is NO ONE to greet, assist or open the Safety Seminars office Space. Unless you received the door instructions - this was difficult to do without assistance from an office stranger. The first Manikin took 4-5 attempts and being exhausted, was not letting me pass the Compressions/Ambu bag test. Thankfully i switched to Station B and passed the test. While it was disclaimed “No Staff will be there to assist, but you can call for customer service” - after calling there was no staff or person to help. There was a ring camera watching the station - but it seemed it didnt matter. Paying almost $250 to just do most of the work online, and do 100 percent of the “classwork” DIY was not worth it. As an “older” nurse, i still recommend to seek an in-person class facilitation.
